I had a question wondering in my head for quite a while.

It is not specific to this game but still.

Why is 255 the max stat?

In this game 255 is the maximum stat, same thing with FF VIII and in the star ocean game the maximum level is 255. Is there any meaning to this number or is this a random number they fix on?
